The Olympic Games are Over!
Posted by Dr. Mom Online in General Health and Well Being on August 25, 2008I have really enjoyed watching the Olympics this year, but I don’t think my body could have taken one more day of it!
I feel like it was an endurance event for me for the last 2 and 1/2 weeks! Never mind Michael Phelps!!! Every night, I’d have good intentions of going to bed early (like I know I’m supposed to in order to achieve optimal health!), but then some strange phenomenon would take over and I’d end up glued to the television once again! I didn’t even know that I was all that interested in most of these sports in the first place! Apparently I am now.
Funny, kids don’t seem to care if you went to bed on time or in the middle of the night – they still make the same amount of noise and have the same needs first thing in the morning either way!
I’ve prepared many breakfasts for my darling little early birds recently with my eyes barely open and my brain in a sleepy fog.
Last night, I told myself, I don’t really care about the closing ceremonies… whew! I can finally get to bed earlier. The Olympics phenomenon took over again as I sat there watching that unbelievable spectacle called the closing ceremonies! I think my brain was too overwhelmed by all the activity to go to sleep anyhow!
The good news is that it only went to 11pm last night. Thank goodness.
I think the best part was re-visiting all the highlights from the games and hearing from some of the athletes at the closing ceremonies. It’s great to hear the pride and awe in their voices. Makes you feel really good about the whole Olympic spirit… even in the midst of a few gazillion dollars being spent on a single ceremony!
Did anyone else see that little tidbit flashed up on the screen right as the broadcast was ending last night? “See you in Vancouver in 18 months!” Holy cow… that’s a 3 hour time change… I need to start resting up now!
