“What Type of Exercise Do YOU Do?”

OK, back to the “Finding Time to Exercise” interview…

The second question presented to me was, “What type of exercise do you do?” Honestly, I don’t think the interviewers really wanted to know that! I think a more pertinent question is determining what type of exercise YOU should do, not what I do! In a near-future [...]

Exercise and Weight Loss Success Begins Between Your Ears… With a Goal in Mind

In a few exercise and weight loss articles I’ve written lately, I’ve referred to the critical importance of FIRST deciding that you are a fit, trim person who exercises for life. Permanent success comes only when you consistently choose to be a “mover” and to make fitness and healthy nutritional choices part of your lifestyle.

Beliefs [...]

Finding the Time for Fitness and Starting a New Exercise Program

With the New Year quickly approaching, many folks are gearing up for a fresh start. Exercise, along with weight loss, is usually quite near the top of the New Year’s resolutions list.

There are many points to consider when beginning an exercise program:
What are my exercise goals?
What type of exercise do I enjoy?
Should I do cardio exercise? [...]

The Story Behind Child Drug Prescriptions

Do you ever wonder why on earth SO many children are being prescribed drugs for “mental” disorders and conditions? Have our children suddenly become so depressed, agitated, anxious and incapable of dealing with their lives – without drugs – in the last decade or two?

Then again, I wonder the same thing about grown-ups. The only [...]

You Don’t Have to Gain Weight and Get Out of Shape This Holiday Season

‘Tis the season… to get FAT??

December is probably the worst time of year for people giving excuse after excuse as to why they are letting themselves get out of shape and put on a few pounds during “the holidays”. We say that we have no time, too many parties to go to, too much shopping [...]

When Would You Take Your Child to the Doctor?

I had an interesting conversation with another mom at gymnastics the other night. She and I were discussing various health-related topics, when she suddenly turned to me and said, “Wait a minute… do you EVER take your kids to a doctor?!”

“I AM a doctor!”, I was thinking!! But I knew she wasn’t talking about the [...]

What Do Squirrels Drink?

The other day in the car, after a rare 30 seconds of silence, my 3 year old son broke the silence with a question.

“Mommy, what do squirrels drink?”

Shaken out of my brief moment of mental relaxation, I responded, “Gee honey. That’s a great question! (stalling) I guess they drink water, like most animals in the [...]

Is Flouride Exposure Causing Early Puberty?

I haven’t used flouride toothpaste for years. Our kids have never used it.

My two, very simplified, reasons for this are:
1) it doesn’t “work” – it doesn’t help teeth the way we’re led to believe
2) it’s a toxic, dangerous substance
(oh, and #3… it’s a totally bogus scam… in my little ‘ol opinion!)

Here’s a link to a [...]

Tisk, tisk. Tyson chicken has done it again!

Is anyone else ready to buy up a few acres or so and start their own farm, raising their own livestock???

I am! Here’s ANOTHER example of our skewed, crooked and dishonest food suppliers doing what they do best…. LYING to us and deceiving us. (Do I sound bitter? I think I just might be! oops! [...]

“Fast Metabolism?” HA!

I guess I needed to clarify something about the calorie counting article I posted a few days ago. Some have mentioned that I “must have a fast metabolism” and that’s why I can “eat whatever I want”.

HA! In my dreams!

Nope, I’m one of those sad, unfortunate souls who needs to work for every ounce of [...]
