Fueling Breast Cancer with Ignorance

I recently had a booth set up at a local community expo. While I was there, soaking it all in, I had the opportunity to confirm (yet again) that I really should live on another planet… for my sake and the sake of those around me!!

I certainly don’t claim to have all the answers to the woes of the world. But, I can say with certainty that the Universal principles I teach regarding health and life are part of the solution… and I can clearly spot contributors to the problems that plague us from a mile away!

I had the *good fortune* to have a booth that directly faced a “Breast Cancer Awareness” booth. You’ve probably heard me say it a time or two before, but is there seriously anyone remaining who is UNaware of breast cancer? What’s the deal?

Stop. Before you get all up in arms that I’d dare utter a remotely negative word about the breast cancer business, please remember that my own mom died as a result of breast cancer (or the treatment of it). My opinion DOES count. My feelings are justified. Been there.

I’m in favor of researching TRUE solutions to problems. I’m not in favor of continuing to dump millions of dollars into dead-end causes (genetic connections vs. familial similarities) and lining the pockets of those at the top of the cancer food chain when we’re ignoring all the signs pointing to EPIgenetics – how our environment (lifestyle choices) determines what genetic messages will or will not be expressed.

I’m also in favor of using whatever you need to use to help a person live the rest of their life with as little discomfort as possible… once limitations of matter and healing potential have reached their maximum levels. I know I wanted that for my mom. We reached a point when it was no longer about creating health and addressing the cause of the problem, but rather about enjoying the last few days and weeks as much as possible.

Back to the booth. I don’t agree with misleading or lying to the masses. I don’t think we should be able to get away with saying, “All the money goes to researching a cure.” Really? Can you show me that? I’d like to see a breakdown of exactly where the money goes. And, exactly what kind of a “cure” are we looking for? Only the ones that can be patented or prescribed or are worth billions? I don’t get it. After this many decades of “fighting the war on cancer”, shouldn’t we have found a cure… IF we were looking in the right place?!

I had to bite my tongue for hours while I listened to the shenanigans across from me. Let me point out, I truly believe in my heart that the people working “in cancer” honestly believe they’re doing the right thing, the best thing. I respect and honor them for that. I choose to believe this about the researchers, the doctors, the nurses, the volunteers, the activists… everyone. Almost. I’m not totally convinced about the pharmaceutical industry. My jury is definitely still out with that one.

The problem is that the paradigm is wrong. You can’t find the right answers in the wrong paradigm.

The ‘routine’ at the breast cancer booth was to entice people, mostly women and teenage girls (the expo took place at a high school), to come over to their table by using cookies, cakes and cupcakes (all with that predictable pink icing, of course!). Once the attendees were happily chowing down on their tasty toxins, they were asked for a donation for breast cancer research to find a cure.

PROBLEM! I won’t go into much detail here, but there are 5 pillars of chronic illness. Without one or more of these pillars, chronic illness – like CANCER – cannot develop. These pillars are the result of stressors in our lifestyle: toxicity and deficiency.

Following me so far?

The pillars are: Stress Hormones, Insulin Resistance, Chronic Inflammation, Decreased Sex Hormone Binding Globulin and Decreased Immunity. You don’t develop breast cancer without having at least one of these.

Back up to the bait at the breast cancer booth. They were calling women and girls over to try their sugar-laden sweets. (Trust me, I asked about the ingredients… in a completely sweet, non-threatening way! I’m not a JERK, for cryin’ out loud!!)

Refined sugar has been clearly, unequivocally proven to increase inflammation, as well as negatively impact our insulin levels and immune systems.

I was in a state of shock for the longest time while I watched this massive demonstration of incongruent messaging being passed along to an innocent, uninformed audience. The part that ticked me off the most was the focus on the young girls… attempting to “teach them of the dangers of breast cancer at an early age”. The tongue biting on my part happened every time I wanted to shout across the aisle, “YOU are the danger!!! You’re feeding them the raw materials for cancer!!”

Just because it has pink icing ribbons doesn’t make it OK. And a 3-day walk doesn’t make up for it.

My heart goes out to all those who have lost someone to breast cancer, or the treatment of it. My heart goes out to all those currently living with it. My heart goes out to all of us trying to prevent it – may God help us all.

Hopefully, by the time my 6 year old daughter has to be concerned about this, we’ll be looking for solutions in the right places… places like the Science of Epigenetics and lifestyle & environment. I think it’s our only hope.
