(I’m not going to bother with the “Day 1, Day 2, Day 3…..” It’s just another day!)
Early morning: 1/2 glass of kefir, a handful of red grapes, 1.5 cups of coffee
(Pure & Sufficient): The kefir has a nice little dose of protein (and probiotics) to start the day right by boosting metabolism and balancing blood sugar. It’s organic and has no artificial garbage in it. The grapes were organic. The coffee was organic and so was the organic, real cream.
(Toxic & Deficient): One could argue about the sugar content of the kefir. I’m not one of those who would argue it in this case. I don’t have enough of it to worry about it – it’s naturally occurring sugar, nothing fake & toxic. But, I wouldn’t drink the whole bottle every day! The coffee is not good for me. I’m not ready to release it yet, so I’m not thinking about it too much.
Later in the morning, with the kids: strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe and turkey sausage links
(P&S): All the fruit was organic. The sausage was free-range turkey with no hormones/steroids, antibiotics or nitrites/nitrates.
(T&D): Some could argue that melon has a high glycemic index. I’m not one of them that would argue that! It’s all relative… it was part of a healthy meal, in the midst of a fairly clean lifestyle. The turkey wasn’t organic. (but I know the farm it came from, and I feel safe and confident.)
Lunch: about 1/2 – 2/3 of a turkey wrap (because my kids stole the rest!) with baby carrots and broccoli dipped in hummus
(P&S): organic, free-range turkey with none of the aforementioned toxins I listed re: the turkey sausage, used organic, sprouted Ezekial wrap, organic mustard, organic veggies and hummus. Good mix of proteins and fats.
(T&D): grains in the wrap. I’m not worried.
Snack: grapes and a few apple slices, a piece of cheese
(P&S): all organic
(T&D): the cheese wasn’t raw.
Dinner: Big salad with chicken, almond slices, sesame seeds, broccoli, tomatoes. Roasted Brussel’s sprouts on the side. Iced tea.
(The kids had a bit of the salad, as well as organic bean burritos, green beans, carrots and tomatoes.)
(P&S): organic, free-range chicken, organic veggies in salad. Organic iced tea with no artificial anything or toxic garbage. Lots of garlic!
(T&D): almond slices and Brussel’s sprouts were not organic. I think the strength of Brussel’s sprouts does a fine job of killing off toxins!!
Later in the evening: small glass of kefir and handful of grapes
(P&S): all good – see above.
